Who should apply - Eligibility (overview)
CTET is the eligibility test for candidates who wish to be considered for appointment as teachers for classes I to VIII. There are two papers:
- Paper I - for aspirants for teaching classes I to V
- Paper II - for aspirants for teaching classes VI to VIII
Detailed educational qualifications, subject requirements and other eligibility conditions are listed in the official information bulletin. Candidates must ensure they meet the required qualifications before applying.
How to apply - Step by step
- Visit the official CTET website: https://ctet.nic.in
- Click the link Apply Online and complete the registration form. Note down the system generated Registration No. or Application No.
- Complete the application form with correct personal and academic details. Enter mailing address with PIN code and active mobile number and email.
- Upload latest scanned photograph and signature in JPG/JPEG format as per specifications (see Image requirements section).
- Decide payment mode and pay the examination fee online using Debit Card, Credit Card or Net Banking.
- Download and print the Confirmation Page for records. The Confirmation Page is not to be sent to CTET Unit.
Image and file upload requirements
- Photograph: JPG/JPEG format, file size between 10 KB and 100 KB; image dimension 3.5 cm width x 4.5 cm height.
- Signature: JPG/JPEG format, file size between 3 KB and 30 KB; image dimension 3.5 cm length x 1.5 cm height.
- Ensure the uploaded photograph is recent and will match the actual candidate at examination center.
Application fee
Fee structure as per category:
- General and OBC(NCL): Rs. 1000 for one paper; Rs. 1200 for both papers
- SC, ST and Differently Abled persons: Rs. 500 for one paper; Rs. 600 for both papers
- GST as applicable will be charged extra by the bank
- Payment mode: Online only (Debit Card/Credit Card/Net Banking)
Exam structure and other details
CTET consists of two separate papers. Each paper has specified subject sections, question types and marking scheme. The complete structure, syllabus and distribution of marks are provided in the official information bulletin. Candidates should refer to the bulletin for subject-wise syllabus and recommended preparation.
Admit card and updates
Dates for downloading the e-admit card will be notified on the CTET website. Candidates must visit the official website regularly for updates. The admit card will contain exam center, shift and roll number details.
Correction and updation policy
Once the fee is submitted, candidate particulars cannot be changed via offline mode. The Board may provide a one-time online correction facility for certain fields within a specified period. Fee once remitted shall not be refunded or adjusted for future tests.
Important instructions and caution
- Read the information bulletin carefully and ensure eligibility before applying.
- Do not submit more than one application. Submission of multiple applications may result in cancellation of candidature and debarment.
- Keep your Registration/Application number, password, mobile number and email active for alerts and correspondence.
- Candidates must enter name, parent names and date of birth exactly as per Class 10th certificate. Requests for changes after the correction window will not be accepted.
- Download and retain the Confirmation Page for future reference. Do not send the Confirmation Page to CBSE/CTET Unit.
