Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has open competitive recruitment for Constable (General Duty) in CAPFs and SSF, and Rifleman (General Duty) in Assam Rifles. Selection stages include Computer Based Examination, Physical Standard Test, Physical Efficiency Test, Medical Examination and Document Verification.

Eligibility
- Nationality: Candidate must be a citizen of India. Domicile/PRC required for State/UT specific vacancies.
- Educational qualification: Matriculation or 10th class pass from a recognized board as on 01-01-2026.
- Age limit: 18 to 23 years as on 01-01-2026 (born between 02-01-2003 and 01-01-2008). Category relaxations apply as per notice.
- NCC incentive: Bonus marks for NCC certificate holders if opted in application (C: 5%, B: 3%, A: 2% of maximum marks).

- Women, SC, ST and Ex-Servicemen eligible for reservation are exempted .
- Payment modes: BHIM UPI, Net Banking, Visa/Master/Maestro/RuPay debit cards. Fee payment deadline is 01 January 2026 (23:00).
- Fee once paid will not be refunded or adjusted.
Scheme of examination
The recruitment comprises multiple stages. Key details for the Computer Based Examination are:
- Single objective paper: 80 questions, 2 marks each, total 160 marks. Duration 60 minutes.
- Four parts: General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Knowledge & Awareness, Elementary Mathematics, English or Hindi. Each part 20 questions.
- Negative marking: 0.25 marks deducted for each wrong answer.
- Exam language: English, Hindi and 13 regional languages. Questions are of matriculation level.
Physical Standards, PET and Medical
Shortlisting to PET/PST will be done state wise, area wise and category wise based on CBE merit (including NCC bonus marks where applicable). Approximately eight times the number of vacancies will be shortlisted for PET/PST. Candidates qualifying PET/PST will be called for Detailed Medical Examination and Document Verification.
Physical standards highlights
- Typical height standard: Male 170 cm, Female 157 cm with specified relaxations for certain categories and regions. Chest and weight standards apply for males where required.
- PET race examples: Male 5 km in 24 minutes; Female 1.6 km in 8.5 minutes (region variations apply).
- Ex-Servicemen: Exempted from PET/PST but may undergo measurement checks and must qualify medical examination.
Documents and photo requirements
- Upload live photograph via the online module or use Aadhaar authentication to simplify photo requirements. Follow Annexure III specimen instructions for acceptable photos.
- Signature in JPEG format, size as prescribed; blurred or miniature signatures may lead to rejection.
- Keep original certificates handy for Document Verification: Matriculation certificate, domicile/PRC, caste certificate, NCC certificate, Ex-Servicemen undertakings and others as applicable.
How to apply
- Create One-Time Registration (OTR) on SSC website ssc.gov.in. OTR on the old SSC site will not work.
- Log in and fill the Online Application Form for the Constable (GD) and Rifleman (GD) examination.
- Upload required documents and pay the application fee online before the deadline.
- Use the correction window from 08 January 2026 to 10 January 2026 if amendments are needed. Correction charges apply: ₹200 for first resubmission, ₹500 for second.
- Download and retain the confirmation page and fee receipt. Admission Certificates for each stage will be available for download from SSC/CRPF websites.
Admission certificates and self slot selection
Admission certificates will be issued online only. SSC provides a self slot selection facility for CBE; candidates must exercise the slot selection when the window opens or they will not be scheduled. Monitor SSC regional and CRPF portals for updates.
